Enhancing care and educating future doctors

Emergency Medicine

Welcome to the University of Miami Hospital Emergency Department!
In early 2012 the department became a new division of the University Health Hospital System. Our board certified Emergency Medicine physicians from all over the country bring their training and expertise together to provide unparalleled high quality, comprehensive care to patients of all ages. We are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and see about 35,000 patients a year. Our Emergency Department has over 40 beds arranged to maximize patient safety, comfort, and privacy.
As part of the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, the Emergency Department is always striving to improve clinical practice with basic science research and education. Our physicians and nursing staff cumulatively take responsibility for teaching medical and dental students and residents. Our physicians have specialty backgrounds including Emergency Ultrasound, Critical Care, EMS (Emergency Medical Services), and Wilderness Medicine that enhance patient care while helping to educate future healthcare providers.
We are the “front door” to the flagship hospital of the University of Miami Health System and are equipped with the latest advancements in diagnostic technologies needed to provide the most sophisticated, rapid and compassionate emergency care to our patients.
